Diving into an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Turdy Character on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have discovered a variety of engaging creations from small studios. But, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure includes a character that is actually a piece of poop attempting to travel to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is simple: just use a one button to leap. Throughout one hundred fifty levels, encounter boss fights and unlock a store to buy skins for your dung hero.

Execute your movements with caution, as a wrong move requires starting over. Bounce using floating orbs to hurl your character upward, traverse disappearing platforms, and interact with triggers to unlock secret routes. Gather currency and use them on tougher stages in which things ramps up.

Visually, the demo features eye-catching level designs and catchy music score. Its minimalist art featuring morphing basic polygons may remind fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though hard to recall similar titles where you control a dung character, video games have long incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as plant food. And of course, this theme is present a lot in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already received significant awards, including winning at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is ready at present on Steam, with the final release planned to arrive on PC in the fall.
