The entertainer posted a moving reflection following the passing of Redford in the classic film The Way We Were. He passed away at the age of 89 in a place he deeply adored.
In an online post, the performer reminisced on their shared experiences during the production of the 1973 hit.
“Throughout production of our project was exciting, powerful and pure joy,” she expressed. “Our personalities contrasted greatly: he loved equestrian life; I couldn’t be near them! Still, we made an effort to learn more about each other, just like the characters in the movie. His presence was captivating, sharp, intense, always interesting—and an unparalleled talent. When we last met, when he came to lunch, we talked about creativity and made plans to exchange our early artwork. He was truly unique and I’m so grateful for having the chance to share the screen with him.”
A Timeless Influence
The film their classic collaboration was a critical and commercial hit featuring Streisand’s signature tune rising to become a popular success and being nominated for an accolades from the film industry.
Her heartfelt words adds to numerous from peers and admirers everywhere in the wake of his loss. Meryl Streep, who shared the screen with him on multiple projects, wrote, “A great spirit has left us. May he find peace my lovely friend.”
Jane Fonda, who worked alongside him on several projects like their beloved romantic hit, said in a statement: “I was deeply affected this morning when I read his passing. I can’t stop crying. He meant a lot to me and he was a wonderful human being completely. He advocated for an America that must be preserved.”
